Drone propellers come in two basic forms: fixed blades that are moulded or machined as one piece, and folding blades that pivot on a hub so they can fold back when the motor is stopped.

Fixed propellers
- Simple, with no hinges or moving parts to wear.
- Very stiff, which suits high-RPM, small-diameter and fast-response applications.
- Take more space to transport at larger diameters.
Folding propellers
- Fold to a narrow profile, which makes large-diameter propellers easier to pack and carry.
- Useful on platforms that are transported often, such as mapping and inspection drones.
- Add a hinge at each blade root, so check the hub and hardware at regular intervals.
Diameter and pitch
Diameter sets how much air the propeller moves, and pitch sets how far it advances per revolution. Larger propellers are more efficient at hover and pair with lower KV motors. Smaller ones respond faster. Our propellers range includes the 15-inch RD 1552 Propeller, the 17.7-inch RD 1760 Propeller, the 24-inch folding RD 2480 Propeller (carbon fibre-reinforced nylon, 107 g with hub) and the 30-inch carbon fibre RD 3090 Propeller (186.5 g).
Matching to a motor
The RD7006 230KV and the RD6218 160KV both list the RD 2480 as their recommended propeller. For help selecting the whole set, read how to choose a drone motor and propeller, or browse our UAV motors.
